Amanda Barone is a Registered Acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO). She is also a Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (CKO). She holds the rare distinction of being the only healthcare practitioner in the province to have both of these regulatory titles. It is because of her extensive training in both of these disciplines that she is able to combine “the best of both worlds” from Eastern and Western Medicine and create treatment plans that yield the most positive clinical outcomes for her patients.
Amanda has been working as an Acupuncturist in private practice since 2010. She is the founder of Best Health Acupuncture in Maple, Ontario and has been proudly serving the Vaughan community for many years. Amanda studied Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TSTCM) in Toronto, Ontario. She completed her two year Acupuncture diploma program in 2009. Amanda is also trained in Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University and integrates this style of therapy into her treatments as well.
During the Initial Visit, Amanda will perform a thorough TCM health history and assessment of your current health complaint. By doing this, she is able to identify key areas of dysfunction and gain an understanding of which specific organs are presenting imbalances and/or blockages. From there, she can to determine which acupuncture points will initiate the body’s self-healing response and restore the body to a state of balance.
Amanda is a graduate of the Kinesiology and Health Sciences program at York University. During her four years of study, she gained a thorough understanding of the human body in both healthy and diseased states. She is able to provide exercise therapy to promote health and wellbeing, prevent, manage and rehabilitate injuries, treat illness and chronic disease, restore function and optimize human performance in the workplace, clinical settings and sport and fitness. During your sessions with her she may also prescribe home exercises to help accelerate healing in between treatment days. Amanda has worked as a Kinesiologist at various rehabilitation clinics in the GTA and is a member in good standing of the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (CKO) as well as the Ontario Kinesiologist Association (OKA) and the Canadian Kinesiology Alliance (CKA).
Amanda is passionate about helping her patients achieve optimal health through the use of acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, exercise, nutrition and lifestyle counselling. She believes in treating the person as a “whole” and understands the intricate connection between a person’s physical, mental and emotional health. She aims to achieve a strong practitioner-patient relationship by thoroughly listening to her patient’s health goals and creating customized treatment plans to address their specific needs.
